Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) is one of Africa’s most significant energy companies, with over 35 years of experience capitalising on Nigeria’s vast natural gas resources to produce and export Liquefied Natural Gas and Natural Gas Liquids to the world.

Committed to sustainable growth, innovation, and partnership, NLNG set out to build something that had never been done before in Nigeria’s energy sector; a physical Innovation and Experience Center that would inspire their people, engage partners, and showcase the future of the LNG industry to every visitor who walked through the door.

They brought Micdee in to make it happen.

Designing a space where Nigeria’s energy future comes to life.

Translating a Massive Energy Company’s Vision into Physical Space

When NLNG approached us, the brief was as bold as the company itself.

The goal was not simply to create an impressive room, it was to build an environment that actively stimulates innovative thinking, provides resources and learning opportunities around LNG technologies and sustainability, facilitates partnerships and dialogue, and puts NLNG’s cutting-edge innovations on full physical display.

This was not a conventional interior design brief. It required us to think like experience designers, spatial strategists, and technology integrators, all at once. We began by identifying the keywords that would guide every decision we made: Exploration, Innovation, Collaboration, Sustainability, Futurism, Knowledge, Interaction, Creativity, and Inspiration.

From these, we built a design language.

From that design language, we built a world.

A Space That Works as Hard as the People Inside It

Our design for the NLNG Innovation & Experience Center draws on the same philosophy that has shaped our work for clients like MTN, Piggyvest, and UAC; that the best spaces don’t just look good, they perform. Every zone within the center was purpose-built to deliver a specific experience, and every material, finish, and fitting was chosen with intention.

The space is organised around a clear spatial hierarchy. Visitors enter through a welcoming reception zone anchored by a dramatic LED Video Wall showcasing NLNG’s operations and legacy. From there, the floor opens into the main experience zone; a dynamic, tech-forward environment housing Product Display Pedestals, a Hologram Display Table, and a 3D Printing Station, all set within a material palette of steel, wood, concrete and fabric that balances industrial ambition with human warmth.

Deeper into the center, dedicated VR Experience and Development Zones allow visitors to step inside NLNG’s world entirely, while the enclosed LED Collaboration Room provides an adaptable space for brainstorming, presentations, and dialogue. Sliding glass panel partitions give the space the flexibility to open up or close down depending on the needs of the moment.
